Beyond our sunny weather, be assured that the Southwest Florida business climate is appealing too. A new study conducted by Forbes ranks Naples and Cape Coral among the nation’s Best Places for Business and Careers. In an analysis involving 200 of the largest metropolitan areas across the country, researchers evaluated metrics that included incomes & economic growth, business & living costs, workplace tolerance laws, education levels and more. Data was additionally compiled from Moody’s Analytics, Sperling’s Best Places as well as the U.S. Census Bureau. Though Seattle (with help from Amazon) ultimately came in as #1, Forbes ranks the Southwest Florida business climate among the nation’s best overall. In fact, with respect to job growth, Naples and Cape Coral scored high nationally while also outscoring anywhere else in Florida. Cape Coral was ranked as #2 in the nation for job growth while Naples ranked 7th. North Port was the only other city of Southwest Florida proximity to rank prominently, coming in as the nation’s 5th for job growth. Forbes has conducted such research for more than two decades and the Southwest Florida business climate has frequently figured in the studies, even formerly distinguishing as Naples as #1 for job growth.
More recently, Forbes recognized Southwest Florida-based Lee Health as one of America’s Top Employers for Women. With more than 13,000 employees, Lee Health is Florida’s largest not-for-profit healthcare system and receives no direct tax support. In the rankings of the nation’s top employers for women, Lee Health was THE ONLY Southwest Florida company to be so distinguished.
There have been other studies which also tout the Southwest Florida Business Climate. These have include MoneyRates.com ranking Fort Myers, Cape Coral and Naples among the nation’s Top Cities for Entrepreneurs as well as U.S. News & World Report ranking Naples’ occupations among the 2018 Best Jobs List. Yes, our community offers a great place to relax, retire and recreate, but some of us MUST also focus on WORK. The good news … Naples is a great place for that too!
